Symptoms of Depression
The symptoms of depression in children and adolescents are often similar to those in adults. However, some distinctions can be observed:

-In young children : Symptoms may include sadness, irritability, clinginess, anxiety, aches, refusal to attend school, and being underweight.
-In adolescents : Symptoms can include sadness, poor academic performance, irritability, excessive eating or sleeping, loss of self-esteem, disinterest in regular activities, and avoiding social interactions.

Signs to Identify Depression
-Persistent sadness or low mood.
-Feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.
-Low self-esteem.
-Tearfulness.
-Feelings of guilt.
-Irritability and lack of tolerance.
-Loss of motivation or interest in activities.
-Difficulty in decision-making.
-Inability to enjoy life.
-Anxiety.
-Suicidal thoughts or self-harm.

Treatment and Prevention of Depression
1. Supportive Counseling
Offering emotional support and being a source of encouragement can help individuals feel less demotivated and isolated. Simple conversations can play a significant role in boosting morale.

2. Psychotherapy
Therapy conducted by psychologists focuses on addressing the root causes of depression. Methods such as music therapy and art therapy are effective and avoid unnecessary medication.

3. Medication
In some cases, antidepressants like Tricyclics, NDRIs, SSRIs, and SNRIs are prescribed to boost serotonin levels. However, these medications can cause side effects such as dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, nausea, or vomiting due to serotonergic effects, which may lead to muscle spasms.

4.Probiotic Supplements
Probiotic supplements, such as BioCraft, have shown promise in reducing depressive symptoms. These supplements help lower inflammation, a key factor that affects neurotransmitter activity, particularly serotonin. Serotonin regulates mood, stress, appetite, and sleep.
