COVID-19 Makes a Comeback! High Risk of Illness During the Rainy Season

COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, remains a health threat that should not be overlooked, especially during the rainy season when the virus spreads more easily. The Department of Disease Control reports that from the beginning of 2025 until May 8th, there have been a total of 41,197 cases and 15 deaths. Data indicate that the most affected group is children aged 05 years, and the majority of fatalities are among the elderly.

Symptoms to watch out for
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Loss of taste and smell
Care guidelines when infected
  • Isolate for 5 days and treat symptoms accordingly
  • If symptoms improve, you can resume normal activities, but should wear a mask
  • If symptoms persist, extend isolation to 10 days
  • Conduct two negative ATK (antigen test) results before considering removing the mask
Preventive measures against COVID-19
  • Wear a mask when leaving the house
  • Wash hands thoroughly and regularly
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Avoid touching the face
  • Change clothes immediately upon returning home
Although COVID-19 is not new, outbreaks still occur, especially during the rainy season which favors virus spread. Therefore, ongoing awareness and self-protection are essential.
